Darvaza Trip: Central Asia travel experts from Khiva
Darvaza means "gate". We named the company after the gates of our home town, and we open the way to the whole region.
Darvaza Trip plans journeys across Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. We start by listening: how you like to travel, what you want to feel and how much time you have. Then we build the route around that.
The company was founded in October 2025 and is led by Akbar Tajiyev, who has worked in tourism for more than 20 years and speaks five languages. Our office is in Khiva, at the western end of the classic Silk Road route, close to the desert fortresses of Khorezm and the border with Turkmenistan.
We arrange the whole trip: guides, drivers, hotels, domestic flights and high-speed trains, desert camps and mountain homestays, and the border crossings in between.
Because we live in Khiva, our deepest knowledge is of our own region: Khiva and Ichan-Kala, the desert fortresses of ancient Khorezm, Karakalpakstan and the Aral Sea, and the crossing into Turkmenistan.
A note on the name: Darvaza Trip is a tour company in Khiva. It is not the same thing as the Darvaza gas crater in Turkmenistan, although we do take travellers there. Darvaza simply means "gate".
