Fann Mountains

A compact range of turquoise lakes and 5,000 m peaks.

The Fann Mountains are a compact range in north-western Tajikistan with peaks above 5,000 m (Chimtarga, the highest, reaches 5,489 m) and dozens of turquoise lakes. They are the most accessible high mountains in Central Asia, a few hours from Samarkand.

Treks link lakes such as Alauddin, Kulikalon and Bolshoi Allo; less strenuous trips visit Iskanderkul and the Seven Lakes by road.
