Questions & answers

How booking works, what to expect, and the practical details of travelling in Central Asia.

Booking

How does booking work?

Tell us your dates, group size and interests through the trip builder, the request form on any tour, or WhatsApp. We reply with a proposed itinerary and price. Once you are happy with it, we confirm hotels, guides and transport.

Can I change an itinerary?

Yes. Every itinerary on this site is a starting point. It can be shortened, extended, upgraded or combined with another country.

Is there any obligation when I ask for a proposal?

No. Proposals are free and you pay nothing until you decide to confirm your trip.

What is your cancellation policy?

Our cancellation terms are included with every proposal, before you pay anything.

About us

Is Darvaza Trip based in Central Asia?

Which countries do you cover?

Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, either individually or combined in one journey.

What languages do your guides speak?

Tell us your preferred language when you enquire and we will match you with a suitable guide.

Travel

Do I need a visa?

It depends on the country and your passport. Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are visa-free for many nationalities; Tajikistan uses an e-visa; Turkmenistan needs a visa with a letter of invitation. See our visa guide.

When is the best time to visit?

April–May and September–October for the Silk Road cities; June–September for the mountains of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan. See the best time to visit.

Can you arrange flights and trains?

Yes. We book domestic flights and high-speed train tickets as part of your itinerary, and we can help with international flights on request.

Is Central Asia safe?

The region is generally considered safe and welcoming for travellers. Read our safety guide and check your government’s travel advice before you go.
