Khujand travel guide
Tajikistan’s second city, with a great covered bazaar.
Khujand, on the Syr Darya at the mouth of the Fergana Valley, is one of the oldest cities in Central Asia. Alexander the Great founded Alexandria Eschate, "the furthest", here around 329 BC.
Today it is Tajikistan’s second city, best known for the Panjshanbe Bazaar and a relaxed riverside atmosphere. It is the natural crossing point between Tashkent and Tajikistan.
