Kokand travel guide

A palace of tiles and a mosque of carved wooden columns.

Kokand was the capital of the Kokand Khanate, which ruled the Fergana Valley and beyond until the Russian conquest in the 1870s. The Palace of Khudayar Khan, with its tiled facade, was completed just before the khanate fell.

Kokand is usually the first stop in the valley when arriving by train from Tashkent.
